In-House Senior Legal Counsel - Commercial, Data & Privacy Lawyer

The purpose of the role and your unique contribution is to provide legal advice and related services in the key functional areas of consumer law, privacy and data and IP, and contribute to a high performing, customer-focused team.
Key Accountabilities:
Establishing deep and effective relationships with business partners, stakeholders and peers to understand their business drivers and strategic priorities
Providing high quality, risk-based, strategic, pragmatic and commercially focused legal and governance advice to business partners and peers
Monitoring legislative/regulatory changes and market best practice in key functional areas, including: consumer law, privacy/data/spam and intellectual property
Providing advice to the core business and proactively identify issues which may impact strategy, operational issues or business processes
Project managing all legal aspects of new initiatives as directed from time to time, leveraging technology and outsource service providers
Contributing to building and sustaining a highly effective, collaborative Legal and Company Secretariat team
Contributing to a high-performance culture within the team and to the execution of the Business Plan, including goals/targets, strategic initiatives and objectives/key results
Continually contributing to the improvement of work systems, processes, planning systems within your team and across the broader Business
Performing your role consistently with your duty to the court and the administration of justice, and delivering legal services objectively, competently and diligently, as set out in the Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules 2015
Awareness and compliance with the Group Delegations & Authorities Policy
Required Experience, Capabilities & Skills:
Bachelor of Laws or equivalent
Qualified as a legal practitioner or admitted to appropriate Australian professional body
Minimum of 7 years PQE
Minimum of 5 years Legal practice experience in consumer law, privacy/data and intellectual property
Highly developed knowledge of market best practice and competitive landscape in relation to marketing/consumer law reviews
Ability to triage multiple priorities and work autonomously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Highly developed legal skills e.g. advisory, contract drafting, negotiation
Advanced customer service and stakeholder management skills
Strong communication, decision making and critical thinking skills
Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team
