AddressJS Careers is excited to be recruiting another senior Legal Counsel opportunity for a global client operating in the Australian market.
Suitable candidates are sought from either -
- Current in-house roles within the financial services sector - strong preference for candidates with exposure to capital markets businesses (ideally listed markets);
- Leading Australian or global private practice firms, with either general corporate and commercial experience (financial services focussed) or capital markets advisory experience;
- Australian or global regulatory bodies or regulatory advisory practices.
Duties of the role will include :
- Legal analysis of company obligations;
- Work as appropriate on regulatory and legal matters across a range of areas including financial services, corporate, commercial, competition, technology, intellectual property, information security, privacy and marketing;
- responding to regulatory queries as and when required;
- providing regular reports on regulatory activities and escalate material issues as required.
Suitable experience will include :
- A record of success in a legal and/or regulatory function in a financial services environment;
- Experience operating at a senior level in financial markets from either an in-house, private practice or regulatory context;
- Understanding of the legal, operational, compliance and regulatory issues arising in listed equities markets;
- Experience dealing with regulators, lawyers and market participants, demonstrating the ability to leverage personal as well as professional networks;
- Experience implementing corporate governance and compliance practices.
- Strong integrity, disciplined work ethic a self starter attitude.
