In this role you will:
- provide legal advice and documentation to all levels of the department with a focus on contracts, grants and property law.
- advise and assist staff of the department in commercial negotiations and deliberations with potential legal implications; and prepare and interpret contracts, grant agreements, memoranda of understanding and other legal documents as appropriate.
- support the lawyers in Legal Services with preparing instructions to Crown Law, private law firms and counsel for the provision of legal services, by providing clear and concise details of the issues, the legal and policy context and the relevant law involved.
- provide advice on the interpretation and application of legislation administered by the department.
- liaise and negotiate with relevant internal and external stakeholders on matters affecting the operations of the department.
- ensure that contemporary legal issues are identified and applied effectively when advising on government policies and initiatives.
