As a forward-thinking Machine Learning Scientist, you will support the Leader of AI/ML, in development and implementation of cutting-edge data science and Machine Learning experiments within our organisation.
This role involves developing and deploying scalable ML models, creating innovative ML pipelines, and extracting actionable insights from complex datasets to drive strategic decisions and technological advancements. As the Machine Learning Scientist you'll be at the forefront of exploring and
integrating foundation models and novel ML techniques.

Day to day:

  • Design and implement data science and ML experiments, setting appropriate metrics, benchmarks, milestones, and effectively communicating results
  • Construct and iterate on ML pipelines to provide scalable insights
  • Create tools for data analysis and visualisation
  • Manipulate large, complex datasets, applying innovative feature engineering techniques.
  • Optimise model performance through fine-tuning
  • Develop novel evaluation and benchmarking methods including QAs
  • Deploy large-scale Machine Learning models in production environments
  • Enhance the safety, security, and integrity of our AI system architectures, contributing to the platform's success and reliability
  • Promote ethical AI principles across all projects, ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to uncover new applications for ML solutions across the organisation
Experience required:
  • At least 5 years of commercial development experience in ML and data science, with a preference for at least 3 years in designing high performance, large-scale ML systems
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, ML or related field, or comparable professional experience
  • Proficient in Python and ML libraries (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn).
  • Knowledgeable about various foundational models, such as LLAMA, Mistral and as well as OpenAI APIs & GPT Models
  • Experience in training models using PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax
  • Strong in programming and data querying (SQL, Spark)
  • Skilled in data wrangling and data manipulation
  • Expert in handling large, structured, and unstructured datasets, with a special focus on time series, e.g. weather/climate data, satellite imagery, and geospatial data
  • Demonstrated ability to deploy models at scale in production environments
  • Proficient in version control (e.g., Git) and cloud computing services (Azure, AWS, GCP) for model training and deployment
