About the role
The Senior Manager Commercial & Customer is responsible for leading our Importers & Exporters and Supply Chain teams with the prime objective being the profitable management of existing, and the development of new, valuable relationships, contracts, negotiations, and supply chain solutions for Fremantle Ports Customers.
This position will take the lead in developing commercial strategies, establishment of contracts, departure management, negotiations and achieving optimal outcomes for the port and for our customers. To be effective they will build trusting relationships with key clients, stakeholders, legal counsel, operations teams, and contract managers to ensure that negotiating, drafting, and reviewing of complex agreements across the business are executed to meet the needs of stakeholders the Fremantle Ports strategic objectives. The role has a significant focus on development of and maintaining strong intercompany relationships across all divisions and leveraging those relationships to achieve the best outcome for our customers, both internal and external.
Reporting directly to the General Manager Commercial and Customer, the Senior Manager Commercial & Customer role will be primarily responsible for ensuring effective commercial practices, both contractual and financial for all Commercial Partner contracts across Fremantle Ports.

About you
To be successful, you will ideally possess relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or 8 years + of relevant experience in Commercial (or similar) Leadership roles.
Extensive Commercial and contract management, complex negotiation, management of legal issues and dispute resolution experience is required to be successful in this role.
We are also ideally seeking someone who is possesses extensive experience in stakeholder and relationship management at a senior level as well as the demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team and deliver on strategic objectives.
Other desirable criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in the analysis and presentation of a variety of reports, customer proposals, bespoke contracts and relevant business cases and submissions.
- Exceptional relationship management abilities.
- High level of commercial acumen with an ability to build and maintain a wide knowledge and understanding of the business environment and apply commercial expertise including concepts and strategies to achieve business objectives.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence effectively
- Extensive knowledge of contractual, legal and commercial issues that impact business practices and outcomes.
- Strong legal and commercial experience with a practical commercial approach to legal advice
- Relevant team building and people management experience and demonstrated track record of success.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully applying change management methodologies to plan, design, and implement change efficiently with committed stakeholders.
