The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is the largest organization of its kind in Australia. VACCA is an Aboriginal community-controlled organization that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal community.
About the role
This role is primarily responsible for meeting VACCA’s external delivery of training including cultural awareness training and Nakara’s Journey to Foster carers. To do this successfully will require effective community engagement with other ACCOs, Traditional owners and mainstream organisations including CSOs, local, State and Federal Governments in order to increase the reach of our training and external delivery income. The role will liaise with existing and prospective participants, VACCA regions and funders, manage the training database, and manage the development of new external training packages, projects, activities with a focus on trauma informed care and practice.
About You
- Commitment to and understanding of the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
- Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, along with awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities, and commitment to continually build knowledge in this area
- Ability to communicate in a clear, culturally appropriate and respectful way with a range of stakeholders
- Strong understanding of and experience conducting training needs analysis along with designing, writing and delivering high-quality, relevant training packages to address the identified need
- Capacity to engage and work with a diverse range of people along a continuum of cultural awareness and cultural competency
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Experience and confidence in workshop facilitation and/or public speaking
- Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills with an ability to work autonomously
- Willingness to work proactively in a team environment
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role, including leading, mentoring and supporting staff
