Senior Manager, Regulatory Approvals

Reporting to the CarbonNet Permitting Director, you will oversee the planning and delivery of key aspects of the regulatory approval's strategy, including securing the required project infrastructure permits and licenses to ready the project for a Final Investment Decision. You will navigate an intricate regulatory framework that includes untested greenhouse gas legislation.
Your responsibilities will involve offering guidance on intricate regulatory issues, encompassing policy and regulatory solutions, as well as staying informed about emerging regulatory regimes in related industries like offshore wind. You will collaborate with the geoscience, technical, and commercial units of the project to implement a cohesive strategic approach. Additionally, you will oversee crucial stakeholder relationships, with a particular focus on regulators, overlapping/adjacent tenement holders, and policy teams from both Commonwealth and State governments.
To be considered for this role, it is highly advantageous to possess experience in designing and spearheading regulatory pathways and applications within the oil and gas or CCS sectors. Prior experience with the Victorian or Commonwealth Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Acts is particularly desirable. Effective communication skills are crucial in this role, requiring adeptness in both written and verbal forms as you interact with key stakeholders and influence outcomes effectively. The ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team members is paramount. Additionally, there is a demonstrated proficiency in offering strategic regulatory advice, utilising sound analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, advocate for, or implement improvements in the application of legislation and regulations pertinent to the project.
