PURPOSE OF JOB AND GENERAL DUTIES
As a key member of the Mechanical Engineering team you will be independent and proactive in developing novel mechanical solutions for Electronics products for use in rugged Automotive and Military applications.
Requirements of the role include:
- Conceptualise, specify, design, cost, prototype, and implement through to production, products in a range of materials including plastics, cast and extruded aluminium, and sheet metal
- Self-motivated and independently capable, but able to work in a close team environment
- Advanced CAD skills in 3D modelling, 2D drafting and engineering drawings
- Proficient in use of additive manufacturing tools for prototyping
- High level understanding of Design for Manufacture
- Ability to communicate fluently and easily with people at all levels internal and external to the business including customers
- The management of suppliers through new product introduction
- Ensuring the design and development of new and existing products are in accordance with Standards (REDARC Quality and Australian & International), Legal and Regulatory requirements and Intellectual Property requirements
- Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- A relentless desire for improvement and quality
- Support and mentor junior team members
Preferred/Extra credit:
- Competent Solidworks skills
- Simulation experience - static, dynamic and/or CFD
- Knowledge of electronics enclosure design and production implementation, including working with tooling and manufacturing sub-contractors to produce high-quality parts
Qualifications - essential:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 8 years industry experience, or similar diploma/degree with extensive relevant industry experience
