Salary Range: Up to $149,816. Package includes salary ($120,859 - $133,183), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

The Role
The Senior Monitoring Officer (SMO) contributes to the delivery of the Ombudsman’s responsibilities under the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 (NSW) (the PID Act) through the audit and monitoring program. The SMO develops and implements audit and monitoring plans which support the delivery of the Audit and Monitoring Framework in an impactful and evidence-based manner.
The SMO ensures that all statutory notices, correspondence, and reports are written to a high standard and consistent with the PID Act. In addition, an SMO ensures that all findings made are timely, supported by evidence, and any recommendations made are practical and impactful.
The position has a key role in leading and developing Monitoring Officers, including the setting of direction, the provision of advice, caseload management and ensuring that objectives are met.
About you
- You are experienced in conducting reviews, audits, or investigations in a relevant field.
- You understand the statutory functions and work of the NSW Ombudsman.
- You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate well with diverse stakeholders, and to prepare complex correspondence and reports.
- You have an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- You are an experienced and effective people leader.
