Where you will be working

The role is a temporary part-time Senior Occupational Therapy position, working in the Transitional Aged care Program (TACP) team and will be job shared. Clinically, you support people over 65 transition back into their homes after a hospital admission. Your role helps people regain independence and confidence in their homes and community again. This role also includes supervisory support to junior clinicians who work in the TACP team.

What you'll be doingThis position is responsible for the provision of high quality client centred, evidence based Occupational Therapy services to clients of the geriatric medicine service at Westmead Hospital. This position will provide clinical supervision and leadership to level 1/2 Occupational Therapists.

Essential Criteria

Registration: AHPRA registration as Occupational Therapist Qualification: Degree or Diploma recognised by AAOT-NSW

Selection Criteria

  1. Significant clinical experience in Occupational Therapy in an acute or community aged care setting with the ability to exercise independent professional judgment.
  2. Ability to work independently with distant supervision and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stake holders throughout all organisational levels.
  4. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated effective time management and organisational skills including ability to prioritise competing demands.
  6. Demonstrated experience in providing clinical supervision to Occupational Therapists and students.
  7. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and implement quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
