About the Senior Occupational Therapist role:
As a Senior Occupational Therapist within our transdisciplinary Key Worker team, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive support to children and their families. You will also provide clinical supervision for Occupational Therapists and collaborate closely with the Leadership team to actively contribute to the organisation's overarching goals in achieving best-practice service delivery. In addition, there will be opportunities to facilitate training and workshops and capacity-building professionals in the wider disability and education sectors.
Outcomes of the role:
- Functional outcomes and meaningful participation: Provide family-centred early childhood intervention and therapy support to families to assist their development and well-being and to participate in meaningful activities and routines in the home, education settings and community.
- Capacity building: Enhance families' and other key caregivers' capabilities to support their children through experiences and opportunities that strengthen knowledge and skills and promote interest-based learning opportunities with children.
- Collaboration: Build strong, collaborative relationships with families and support informed decision-making on interventions that fit into everyday routines and activities to help achieve the family's prioritised goals.
- Creating Opportunities: Strengthen the capabilities of Occupational Therapists through clinical supervision and coaching to support the achievement of best practice outcomes for children and families and contribute to professional learning and practice improvement for the organisation.
What will you bring to the role?
Essential Criteria
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and registered with AHPRA.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in providing occupational therapy services to children, including children with developmental delay and/or disability.
- Experience in delivering effective supervision and coaching to Occupational Therapists to support best practice service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and clinical supervision responsibilities effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a team and provide consultation to Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists and Early Childhood Teachers.
- Demonstrated commitment to implementing the National Guidelines for Best Practice in Early Intervention when working with children and their families.
- A high level of understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
- A proven record of working within a billable model and being accountable for daily activities.
Special Conditions
- Hold a current NSW Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Check
- Hold a current First Aid certificate.
- Hold a current Australian driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the Hunter.
