Senior Open Pit Mine Surveyor

Northern Star Resources have a fantastic and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Senior Open Pit Mine Surveyor to join the team at the KCGM operations.

Working a 9-hour day on a 5:2 4:3 roster, this permanent, full-time Kalgoorlie-based residential role, allows for great work-life balance.

You will coordinate the activities of the Survey Team to ensure the mine design is achieved safely and within budget by providing a surveying service to the Site, accurately marking out hazardous areas, as well as conducting accurate survey reconciliations.

Key Accountabilities:

• Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring and developmental activities to members of the Survey Team.
• Working with site operations and safety representatives ensuring all Survey incident and accidents are reported and investigations are completed in a timely fashion.
• Manage Survey Team training and qualifications, ensuring the survey function have bench strength and personnel trained.
• Coordinate the Survey Team to realise mine design as well as make working and travel areas easily identifiable by accurately marking out mining areas and hazardous areas.
• Coordinate the month end reconciliation process, both in the areas of Pit and stockpiles.
• Coordinate all daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for the area to conform to corporate compliance requirements.
• Assist in preparing the forecasts and budgets for the Survey Area.
• Review Supplier and Contractor contracts, and ensure Contractors provide a quality service and conform to all safety requirements.
• Identify risks and opportunities and develop strategies to improve performance, reduce risk and cost.

Requirements

Essential

• Demonstrated experience working in an Open Pit environment.
• Minimum of seven (7) years previous experience in a Survey function of Open Cut mining
• Experience with Surpac.
• Well-developed communication skills.

Preferred

• Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience.
• Experience with Trimble software and Global Positioning System (GPS) instrumentation.
• Experience with i-Site Laser Scanner and software.
• Minimum three (3) years' experience with Voids.
