About the Role
We have an exciting role available for a Paralegal or Senior Paralegal in our life insurance team. You will have autonomy to run your own claims with oversight and direction from one of our experienced lawyers. You will be a key point of contact for the client. In this role you will build rapport and trust with the client and communicate with other external parties to help successfully resolve their life insurance claims.
You will need to have a passion for helping people and be experienced in managing high volume tasks. You need to be deadline driven with both high-level written and verbal communication and client relationship skills. An excellent eye for detail is essential in making this role a success, as is an empathetic and professional approach to managing claims.

We require you to also have the following:
- Experience in a superannuation claims (TPD, IP and Life Insurance), Plaintiff personal injuries and/or Defendant Insurance legal support role;
- Excellent organisational skills and an ability to multi-task;
- An understanding approach to our clients and the ability to communicate with empathy and compassion;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team;
- Attention to detail; and,
- Previous experience in a professional services firm is desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities
You will have day to day management and oversight of your own clients and practice, which will also be supported by a senior lawyer and legal assistant.
A typical day as a busy paralegal at our firm would consist of the following tasks:
- Requesting, reviewing and analysing key documents to support our clients claims such as medical records, expert reports and insurance policy documents.
- Liaising and updating clients regularly via phone and email.
- Creating action plans with your team to address any issues that come up during the claim process.
- Reviewing medical evidence and drafting medical chronologies.
- Drafting documents, letters and briefs to experts and barristers.
- Meeting with you supervising lawyer to generate strategies to progress your claims and further develop your understanding of the area of law.
