The opportunity:
Parliamentary Services is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Officer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our payroll department, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our employees.
The challenge:
- Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll for approximately 740 employees.
- Reconciliation and allocation of the budget for fortnightly payroll across different outputs within the Parliamentary Service.
- Guidance to members, management, and staff regarding various compensation benefits, as well as policy and procedural mandates.
- Prepare documentation related to Legislative Assembly Members' salaries and allowances.
- Arrange HR correspondence, including letters of offer, appointments, and parental leave matters.
- Collaborate with the Shared Services Client agency (Office of the Governor) on relevant documentation.
Your expertise:
- High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently to resolve payroll-related issues.
- Proficiency in payroll systems (Aurion).
- Understanding of legislation and award interpretation within the Parliamentary Service and Queensland Public Sector.
- Intermediate excel skills for effective data management.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Minimum of 5 years' proven experience as a Payroll Officer in a similar-sized organisation.
