The role
An exciting opportunity exists to join Kingston City Council’s Vegetation and Planning Compliance Team as a Senior Planning Liaison and Enforcement Officer, reporting to the Team Leader – Vegetation and Planning Compliance.
The Senior Planning LiaisonEnforcement Officer plays a crucial role in offering guidance to the community and stakeholders on compliance matters related to land development within the Kingston Planning Scheme. This involves conducting thorough assessments of compliance against regulations, Council policies, and services. The officer is responsible for facilitating the prosecution of breaches when necessary, aligning with the Kingston Planning Scheme and the Planning and Environment Act 1987. Additionally, the role involves coordinating staff under this position, overseeing daily tasks, and contributing to their ongoing development. At times, the role will include preparation of evidence briefs and presentation before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Magistrate’s Court.
About you
The ideal candidate will have:
Relevant degree or diploma in Town Planning with some relevant experience or lesser formal qualification with substantial experience
Demonstrated experience in coordinating and mentoring staff
Experience in participating at VCAT or the Magistrate’s Court (desirable)
Strength in applying a customer centric approach to harness successful partnerships with Kingston's internal and external stakeholders
