The Town is seeking a highly motivated and suitably experienced Senior Planning Officer team in a full-time capacity on a 2 year contract.
Your new role
The successful applicant will assist the Coordinator Urban Planning in the day to day operation of the Urban Planning team and assist in the approvals process as both a senior and key member of the team. The Town offers the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of interesting issues including residential character, urban design and revitalisation, incorporating significant developments on the Burswood Peninsula (including the Belmont Park Racecourse Redevelopment of up to 4500 dwellings), Albany Highway and elsewhere.
Key responsibilities include:
- decision making under delegated authority
- preparing reports and recommendations on planning applications, policies and issues including complex matters
- facilitating good development outcomes
- providing guidance and advice to Planning Officers
- providing professional planning advice to the community, Government agencies, developers and other departments on statutory planning matters.
What you’ll need to succeed
- formal tertiary qualification/s in town planning or related discipline
- previous demonstrated town planning experience at a senior level, working in a multi-disciplinary organisation
- demonstrated ability to provide high quality customer service
- excellent knowledge of the statutory planning framework.
