Our client is seeking to engage a Senior Policy Advisor Medical Practice.

The role
Broadly, the Senior Policy Adviser will provide policy advice and undertake a range of tasks in respect of the issues managed by the team, including but not limited to health service financing, public hospitals and public hospitals report card, performance of hospitals and medical services, safety and quality, aspects of digital health, aged care and working with relevant Committees and working groups.
Responsibilities
The Senior Policy Adviser will work to the Policy Manager, Medical Practice and will be guided by priorities set by the Federal Council.
The Senior Policy Adviser will:
- Undertake and/or coordinate extensive, in-depth, and timely research and analysis of national and international issues related to health systems and financing to advance Agency policy on behalf of members, the medical profession, and the community.
- Produce Agency policy and position statements, submissions, background papers, briefing papers and reports for the Agency Committees, Federal Council and Executive Council as required, and contribute material for media releases and speeches.
- Respond to written and verbal inquiries from members, the public and other organisations.
- Represent the Agency as required at workshops, seminars, conferences, and other meetings.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Under the direction of the Policy Manager, Medical Practice, provide guidance to and mentor less experienced Policy Advisers as required.
- Contribute to the success of the team in meeting the Agency's aims and objectives and to undertake other reasonable duties commensurate with the level of this role.
- Undertake other projects, outside the roles and responsibilities outlined above, as requested by the Manager, Public Health Policy.
- Extensive experience in researching and developing health policy, preparing related media statements, presentations and providing input to advocacy strategies and campaigns based on health economic and research inputs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Solid working knowledge of Australia's health system, financing, and regulatory arrangements, as well as current issues and medico-politics.
- Extensive experience in working with relevant Federal government bodies, medical organisations, and stakeholders in the health sector that demonstrates the ability to work with key people of influence, understand health sector issues, and to advocate policy positions.
- Self-motivation, with capacity to work with minimal supervision in a small, cooperative team environment, as well as the ability to manage and prioritise a wide range of activities concurrently.
- Digital literacy relevant to all aspects of office IT systems and the ability to work effectively remotely as required.
- Relevant qualifications or a combination of qualifications and experience relevant to the role.
