Job Description
Undertakes a policy function in support of the Director of Policy and Legislation. In doing so, the Senior Policy and Liaison Officer:

  • Develops and implements policies, guidelines and procedures to guide and support departmental business.

  • Provides professional and administrative advice and responds directly to external inquiries.

  • Undertakes a liaison role ensuring that the flow of information between the Department, the Minister’s Office and other parts of Government is maintained in an efficient and effective manner.

  • Implements projects and supports legislative programs to meet the objectives of the Department or other government commitments.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.

  1. High level policy formulation and research skills including proven experience in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Policy and policy initiatives.

  2. Extensive experience and knowledge of working in natural resource management, or a closely related field and achieving best practice management with respect to the environmental, social, economic and risk management.

  3. Excellent interpersonal skills including negotiation skills and extensive experience in liaising effectively with senior management in both the private and public sectors.

  4. Working knowledge of and experience in the application of legislation and policy to achieve conservation and other natural resource management objectives.

Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
