Salary - Grade 9/10 ($120,859 pa - $133,183 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading)

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) works to enable right to access justice, to help families, and to promote early intervention and inclusion, in order to provide benefits for the whole community. The Strategy, Policy and Commissioning (SPC) division leads and contributes to the policy, strategy and data analytics work required across the departmental functions. These are wide-ranging and include leading the development and implementation of Policy and strategy for child protection, out-of-home care (OOHC), domestic and family violence, sexual violence, people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, seniors, carers, multicultural communities, youth, volunteers, targeted early intervention, and crime prevention and diversion.
SPC's data analytics teams include the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) and Family and Community Services Insights Analysis and Research (FACSIAR) which provide research and evaluation reports, cost modelling, reporting and operational reviews to identify trends to support evidence-based decision making across DCJ's service delivery and policy functions.
Your role
As a Senior Policy and Projects Officer, you will undertake Policy and legislative analysis, development of reform options, preparation of briefing notes, planning and implementing policy projects and collaborate with the broader team on priority projects. You will provide specialist policy advice and high-level analysis on issues and strategies. You will be required to work in partnership with the division's key stakeholders and non-government service providers and advocacy groups.

What you'll do
In this role, you will:
- Provide well-researched, balanced and expert advice within tight timeframes.
- Working collaboratively and extensively with a range of stakeholders.
- Manipulate and analyse complex data sets to develop policy insights.
- Experience with government and political processes.
- Prepare discussion papers, briefs and submissions, to contribute to the development and delivery of Policy and Project initiatives.
- Lead project teams often according to complex rules and procedures to deliver within tight timeframes.
What we're looking for
You will have strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to provide well-researched, balanced and expert advice supported by data and analysis. Sound capability in developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to lead projects quickly under pressure, often according to complex rules and procedures. The ability to manage competing priorities and operate within a dynamic policy environment. Extensive experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and with political processes. Experience working in whole of government governance and with strong secretariat skills is desirable.
An understanding of and an interest in domestic, family and sexual violence, disability, data analytics, grants management, seniors and/or the child protection and out-of-home care system is also desirable.

- Tertiary qualifications in law, social science, public policy or commerce, or equivalent relevant experience.
