Expressions of interest are being sought from NSW Health staff wishing to apply to this three (3) month internal opportunity. To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be a permanent/ongoing employee or a temporary employee with at least 12 months consecutive service.

This is a secondment opportunity where you are required to have permission from your home agency to be released from your usual duties for the period.

About this role
We are looking for a high performing Senior Policy and Project Officer to join the NSW Health State Preparedness and Response Unit, System Management Branch, within the NSW Ministry of Health.

The State Preparedness and Response Unit is responsible for achieving NSW Health’s objectives relating to planning, preparedness, response and recovery to incidents and emergencies arising from a range of hazards.  

The Senior Policy and Project Officer manages strategic and operational projects that support the achievement of NSW Health’s objectives relating to State-level emergency management. This involves reviewing and updating emergency management policies and supporting the SPRU in preparing, monitoring, responding to and recovering from a range of emergencies that impact the NSW Health system. The role will be required to provide out-of-hours work to best meet situational requirements.

Crown Clerk 9/10, salary from $120,859 - $133,183 plus Super and annual leave loading

What you'll be doing

  • Manage the planning and delivery of complex projects for NSW Health to address current and emerging issues in relation to incidents and emergencies arising from a range of hazards.
  • Undertake rapid analysis of emerging issues, as per Incident Coordination Framework, to ensure NSW Health identifies and responds effectively to incidents.
  • Manage strategic projects to successfully deliver all key milestones and outcomes.
  • Prepare high quality written advice in the form of reports, briefs, policy, discussion papers, or circulars in relation to incidents and emergencies arising from a range of hazards.
  • Lead and participate in quantitative and qualitative research to address policy issues and inform policy development.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure project deliverables are met.
