Job description

The Victorian Collaborative Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing (Collaborative Centre) brings together lived experience leadership, innovative service delivery and cutting-edge mental health research to drive system transformation.
We exist to drive ground-breaking change to Victoria's mental health and wellbeing system, so that people receive mental health and wellbeing support when, where and how they may want it. To do this, we bring people with lived experience together with researchers and experts in multidisciplinary clinical and non-clinical care to develop and provide adult mental health services, conduct research and disseminate knowledge.
About the role:
The Senior Policy Officer Capability will support the design of the Collaborative Centre's future Workforce Capability operating model, which will coordinate workforce development and continuing education that is informed by evidence (including the evidence of lived experience). They will also work closely with the broader research team in translating research insights into fit-for-purpose tools, templates and resources to promote evidence-informed practice, and working with the research team to deliver a series of knowledge sharing events in line with the Collaborative Centre's first research strategy.

Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate:
  • Contribute to a collaborative process to design the Collaborative Centre's Workforce Capability operating model, working with broad stakeholders, partners, and contractors, including people with lived experiences, service providers, academics and government bodies
  • Supporting the delivery of a public learning and engagement programs in line with the Collaborative Centre's strategic plan and research priorities
  • Contributing to the design and delivery of the Collaborative Centre's broader operating model as required
  • Applying a strong understanding of the strategic context to all work, including the respective roles and responsibilities of the Collaborative Centre, the Department of Health and service providers in building Workforce Capability and improving mental health and wellbeing services
  • Contributing to briefing and seeking input from the Collaborative Centre Board and executives as appropriate
  • Supporting project-related consultation as required, including with the Collaborative Centre's Lived Experiences Advisory Panel, the Department of Health, health services, non-governmental organisations, peak bodies, people with lived and living experiences and the mental health and wellbeing workforce
  • Working within project budgets and contributing to proposals or submissions to seek additional funding, including in line with State Budget processes
  • Establishing and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the Collaborative Centre team and the Department of Health
