High Power Engineering is an Australian based engineering and project delivery company that specialises in high voltage and low voltage Power System analysis and design right through to commissioning, energisation and auditing. We provide high quality services to mining & minerals, oil & gas, energy & utilities, power stations, renewable energy, rail and defence industries.
This position is for an immediate start. This position is on a 9 Day Fortnight with every second Friday as an RDO. A competitive salary is on offer for the successful candidate. A collaborative team focused on delivering quality projects and solutions for clients.
Key Criteria
To be considered for this position, you must be/have:
- Be based in Brisbane;
- Bachelors or Higher Degree in Electrical Engineering;
- Over 20 years experience in Electrical Engineering for the mining and power generation industries;
- An adaptable, flexible & positive attitude and be willing to mentor other engineers;
- Excellent written and verbal communication;
- The ability to work within deadlines to a high standard;
- The ability to work in a close team environment and interface with clients;
- A thorough understanding of protection principles;
- A thorough understanding of earthing design;
- A thorough understanding of generation systems;
- Over 10 years experience in detailed design projects for the mining and power generation industries;
- Over 10 years experience with Power System modelling;
- Registered with Engineers Australia;
- Registered as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ);
- The ability to work autonomously with self discipline.
Duties
- HV Power System analysis – load flow, motor starting, protection coordination, fault levels, transient analysis, harmonic assessments, earth grid and lightning studies and design, insulation coordination studies;
- Primary electrical design – supply and equipment specifications, datasheets, installation scope of works, plant general arrangements, cable schedules, cable calculation reports, AS2067 compliance assessments, earth grid layouts and typical installation drawings;
- Secondary electrical design - protection panel/generator control panel/switchboard schematics, protection cause and effect diagrams;
- Protection system design - protection settings files (SEL, Siemens, ABB, Schneider), protection logic design, IEC61850 design;
- Project management, schedules and budgets;
- Secondary and primary HV commissioning;
