Overview

To provide fixed plant, haulage & transshipping engineering and technical expertise to the maintenance and production departments to improve safety, quality, and effectiveness of the operations, as well as guidance and mentorship to Production Engineers and operations personnel. This role would support the Mine or the Port operations superintendents. This role will be Perth Based until commissioning starts in April. It will then move towards an 8/6 or 5/2 : 4/3 aligning to shift rosters at Mine and Port.

Responsibility

• Provide technical & process engineering support to the Production, Maintenance and Technical Teams as required.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Production Engineers and operations teams to develop their skills
• Proactively troubleshoot process, control systems, production, and maintenance problems to analyse and recommend solutions to improve operations
• Work closely with Senior Site representatives as a voice for capital, improvement, and engineering works within the fixed plant, haulage and transhipping areas
• Provide run-down and commissioning technical support for shutdowns
• Stand in for Site Superintendent as/when required
• Comply at all times with legislative, organisational, industry and ethical responsibilities

Requirements for the role

• Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Processing, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or other relevant discipline (preferred but not required)
• A focus on effective safety and environmental practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Effective communication - both written and verbal
• Ability to establish positive working relationship with contractors
• Displays commitment to high standards of work
• Strong computing abilities
• A minimum of four years’ post-graduate experience in operations
• Experience with Iron Ore base metals preferred 
• Experience operating stockyard, stacking and reclaiming facilities preferred but not required
