The Senior Program Officer is responsible for supporting improved Culturally responsive practice across the continuum of Youth Justice services through supporting continuous improvement processes.
The purpose of this position is to enable frontline Youth Justice staff to implement and improve the programs and services they deliver to young people to reduce reoffending and improve community safety. Support is provided through local level action areas identified through quality assurance processes.

The Service Improvement Support team collaborates with frontline Youth Justice staff to design, implement and enhance the services they deliver. The objective of our work is to ensure that Youth Justice Service and Detention Centres:
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based service responses.
- Continually enhance and sustain their programs and services, with the support of the broader organisation.
- Demonstrate the positive change they are affecting in the lives of young people.
- Expand the evidence-base on programs and services effective for the Queensland context.
- Are partners in innovative system, community and service level initiatives.
- Lead and support implementation of evidence-based service responses for young people in the Youth Justice system.
- Build and sustain organisational capacity to deliver a core suite of evidence-based programs and services.
- Collaborate with other departmental and government staff to provide advice on issues relating to young people and their families, departmental service responses, and system reform required to enable high quality and effective programs and services.
- Promote learning and information sharing in relation to programs and services, through the preparation of a range of high quality communication materials including intranet content, cabinet submissions, executive correspondence, briefing material, speech notes and information papers.
- Maintain positive connections that diversify and expand the thinking, resources and investment base in Youth Justice.
- Implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
