Monadelphous' Maintenance and Industrial Services division delivers maintenance, shutdown and minor capital works projects through long-term maintenance contracts. We will give you the opportunity to work collaboratively with our blue-chip clients to ensure optimal plant productivity by integrating with client systems to develop and successfully deliver maintenance plans.

Due to continued growth we are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Accountant / Cost Controller to join our team based in Victoria Park. You will be responsible for providing financial management support and assistance for the execution of contract works, including maintenance, shutdowns and projects. You will have the ability to work independently and a proven track record of excellent communication skills, both written and oral, enabling you to build a rapport easily with key stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation.

Drawing on your previous experience, you will be:                   

  • Providing financial support to project teams, including progress claims and project cost reports
  • Developing and utilising commercial systems to manage the pricing and progress claiming of the works against a rates-based commercial model
  • Compiling cash flow records, forecasting, and working alongside the Management Team regarding project schedules
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and key client contacts in relation to project cost controls and commercial related matters
  • Working with Project Managers to maximise project returns
  • Ensuring that all commercial activities comply with contract terms and deliverables
  • Manage project accounting activities, including cost control, progress claim (assistance) and generating project budget and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Analyze project financial data and provide recommendations for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Cost control and analysis of earned value/shortfall
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project forecasting and reporting.
  • Coordinate with corporate accounting to ensure accurate and timely project financial reporting.
  • Review and approve project-related invoices, expenses, and payments.
  • Prepare monthly management reports and present to senior management.

What you will bring

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
  • Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Experience within the resource, specifically oil and gas, industry is strongly preferred
  • Sound computer skills with MS Office Suite and financial management systems /databases
  • High level of attention to detail with strong business and financial analysis skills e.g. CAP expenditures, bank guarantees, cost management, investigation of project variances and reporting
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence to establish effective working relationships at all stakeholder levels
  • Experience delivering insightful reporting analytics and financial commercial information to manage business risk and opportunities
  • A willingness to travel to site as per business requirements
