Major Projects is a business unit within Public Works Division and is responsible for facilitating the delivery of high risk and high value capital works projects on behalf of the Queensland Government.
As Senior Project Finance Officer, you will play an integral role in governance, reporting and financial management of capital projects, assisting with evaluations, financial risk assessments and mitigation activities, proactive budgetary and financial advice, development of service and project agreements, expenditure forecasting and performance reporting.Your superior knowledge, analytical and technical skills will ensure quality project financial reports, advice and solutions effectively supporting project delivery in line with government policy, legislative and project governance frameworks. Working collaboratively with the project management, finance, procurement and contract administration teams, external cost consultants, clients and key stakeholders, you will positively contribute to whole-of-government outcomes.
What you will be doing- Develop, implement and review financial management work processes and procedures for effectiveness and engage in ongoing improvements.- Undertake research, critically analyse and monitor project budgets and source documents to support effective financial management of contract and non-contract expenditure, and provide advice to management on budget risks, financial obligations, program and cash flow impacts, reporting forecasts and progress of deliverables against targets.- Develop and maintain program and project specific financial performance reports and related systems to provide high quality, timely, accurate and relevant information to clients and stakeholders, proactively addressing and reporting risks, and recommendations to facilitate delivery of projects within program, scope and budget constraints.- Manage information within corporate systems, databases and other applications including advanced spreadsheets to track financial information, validate accuracy of source data, maintain data integrity, investigate, analyse and explain variances, and advise of corrective actions.- Effectively collaborate and communicate with Executive Project Directors, Project Managers, Contract Managers, Quantity Surveyors and other professionals for positive outcomes.
