I am currently partnering with one of Queensland's largest Government Departments to recruit an experienced Senior Project Manager to play a pivotal in the up-lift of business processes, adherence to governance frameworks and new ways of working. This is an initial 9-month day rate contract based in Brisbane's CBD with a 3 day in office / 2 day Work From Home (WFH) work flexibility options available.
As the Senior Project Manager, you will lead a project team to up-lift business processes and drive adoption of new ways of working across a large business operations government department. There may be some small ICT requirements, however 95% of this role is related to business processes, governance and improving project reporting requirements.
It will involve a considerable amount of stakeholder engagement and consultation, indirect management of internal / external staff as well as professional service contracts. Whilst this role is for a Senior Project Manager, the role also has a strong emphasis on organisational change management and Business Transformation. The Project Manager will be operating in an environment of limited established project management processes. Therefore, the ability to adapt, to be proactive in problem solving and to work effectively within the team and autonomously will be crucial for success.
The Project Manager will be expected to utilise aspects of agile in the delivery of the projects, will have a growth mindset and be dedicated to and participate in continuous improvement workstreams.
About the Role
- Support the project sponsor in their championship of the project to the Executive Management Team and Senior Project stakeholders;
- Provide leadership to the project team (internal and external) and its workstreams;
- Work effectively with the project sponsor and the Executive Management Team on removing project roadblocks and resolving project issues and risks;
- Lead the management of organisational change management and Business Transformation activities with a focus on demonstrating value early and continuously;
- Apply fit-for-purpose principles in developing, managing and maintaining relevant project management artefacts;
- Identify, document and manage project risks, issues and dependencies and proactively work towards their resolution;
- Identify, document and manage stakeholder expectations in alignment with project scope; and
- Manage the project within its non-financial and financial constraints and report within existing arrangements to the Executive Management Team.
About You
- Extensive experience (at least five years) in Project Management and experience or working knowledge of Organisational Change Management would be beneficia, preferably with large and complex programs of work in a public sector (e.g. government) organisation/s;
- Experience in Business Transformation, business improvement and / or change management initiatives; and
- Strong understanding of Portfolio / Program / Project Management frameworks and methodologies.
