First Nations priority consideration
This role is open to all, applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander that meet the minimum requirements for the role will be given priority consideration and invited to participate in the next selection activity.
As a successful candidate in this role working in the Joint Management team, you will support the growing program by progressing priority projects and management tasks from the 18 Indigenous Management Agreements that are currently in place, this includes developing and reviewing protocols, processes and procedures for joint management of Cape York Peninsula Aboriginal Land (CYPAL) National Parks.
Protocols detail specific agreed terms for management of the National Park. They are negotiated between the joint management parties and evolve as required. This role will also have input into the review of the Indigenous Management Agreements (IMAs) which support the joint management program, and the specific Protocols and together enable implementation of the legal commitments of joint management.
You'll develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders taking into account their needs and interests. Stakeholders include Traditional Land Custodians and various internal Technical and Operational Department of Environment, Science and Innovation staff. You'll provide effective and high-quality outcomes for the management of the CYPAL (Cape York Peninsula Aboriginal Land) National Park Joint Management framework.
You will be a proactive in fostering a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engages stakeholders' contribution to better outcomes for First Nations people.
