Title:Senior Project Officer – Grazing

Remuneration: $87,000 - $95,000 + superannuation
The Position
We are seeking an engaging and motivated grazing Project Officer to work with landholders to improve the productivity and profitability of the grazing industry.
Reporting to the Coordinator – Sustainable Agriculture, the Officer will assist landholders with property planning designed to improve land condition and water quality outcomes as well as provide extension services to agriculture landholders and technical support to Reef Catchments programs, in particular, providing landholder engagement and communication support for Sustainable Agriculture programs.
The Officer will provide technical and management support to demonstration trials, develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and landholders to aid the development of sustainable agriculture projects, support the data collection and analysis of management practice adoption to evaluate the program’s effectiveness and enable program modifications in relation to extension and funding.

Selection criteria
Essential
- Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant field such as Agriculture, Applied Science or Natural Resource Management or equivalent relevant work experience and vocational or industry education/training.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the planning, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of projects including coordination and monitoring activities of diverse project teams.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in best practice grazing land and herd management
- Demonstrated skills in data collection and management systems to produce data products to meet reporting and planning needs.
- Advanced interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills as they relate to building strong relationships, partnerships and networks with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong Grazing and Livestock Industry Knowledge
- High level organisational skills, including the ability to organise and prioritise work activities in a demanding, busy environment, including demonstrated attention to detail
- Event organisation experience (meetings, workshops, field days)
- Current Driver’s Licence
Desirable
- Understanding of soil sampling hygiene and undertaking land condition assessments or similar monitoring and evaluation frameworks
- Managing demonstration trials
