Job description

The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. We’re focused on supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contact with communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research. About the role: 

The Senior Project Officer (Lived Experience) is part of the Program Design and Management team and is responsible for supporting project activities to implement key recommendations of the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System, particularly those relating to new Lived Experience-led entities and services.

The role is a critical part of the response to specific recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System, including that the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Division employs people with lived experience of caring for someone living with mental illness or psychological distress in multiple substantive positions, including leadership positions.

The role leads on priority projects by ensuring delivery of key project tasks, including those relating to project governance, procurement activity, codesign and coproduction with a broad range of sector partners, and capital planning processes.

Qualifications and considerations
  1. Demonstrated experience working in a designated lived experience role.
  2. A tertiary qualification in fields related to policy and public health and a sound understanding of the Victorian mental health system would be desirable.
