About the position
Working within our Engineering Services team, this position will be responsible for providing technical and operational support to the Coordinator Engineering Delivery and Manager Engineering Services to ensure efficient and effective delivery of engineering infrastructure works and asset maintenance, in line with the City's project management principles and practices. The Senior Projects Officer will provide a professional technical service to the City and its residents to meet the Business Unit goals and objectives. In particular, project management, contract management and construction management of allocated projects from the Capital Works Program.
To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate:
- A tertiary qualification or Associate Diploma in Civil Engineering Construction, Project Management or related discipline or equivalent significant experience.
- Knowledge and experience of relevant Australian standards, principles and practices, and regulatory requirements involved in construction and asset maintenance.
- Proven knowledge in asset, contract and project management principles and techniques.
- Experience in civil construction and maintenance or experience in a similar role.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including, negotiations, dispute resolutions, public presentations and report writing.
- Considerable experience with budgeting, monitoring costs and schedule control relating to construction and maintenance projects.
- Experience with local government procurement and tendering procedures.
- Experience in the development and delivery of local government capital works programs or state government projects.
