Senior Risk Manager

Our esteemed client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk to join their team on an initial 6 month contract, with the possibility of the position being made permanent.

As the Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk, you will collaborate closely with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to craft and implement the Group’s Risk Management Framework. Your primary focus will be on redesigning and maintaining the Operational Risk Management Framework to ensure compliance with the upcoming CPS 230 prudential standard. This role demands a strategic mindset, strong stakeholder management skills, and a commitment to fostering a culture of effective risk management across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the CRO in enhancing and maintaining the Risk Management Framework, including the development of key risk indicators and risk management procedures.
• Lead the redesign and implementation of the ORMF to meet CPS 230 requirements, in collaboration with the CRO.
• Play a pivotal role in the successful rollout of the integrated Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) system.
• Oversee the preparation of risk management reporting to senior stakeholders and board committees.
• Provide expert advice and oversight on first-line risk and compliance activities.
• Conduct second-line risk-based assurance activities and testing across various business areas.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with legal counsel and key stakeholders to develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
• Contribute to driving the Risk & Compliance strategy for the business and champion a strong risk culture throughout the organisation.

Requirements:

• In-depth knowledge of APRA prudential standards for general insurers (knowledge of ASIC requirements preferred).
• Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations within a business context.
• Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Commercial mindset with a curiosity for understanding business operations and risk management strategies.
• Strong organisational, negotiation, and project management abilities.
• Tertiary qualification with a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in insurance or financial services.
