About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Safety Trainer, full time on a 2 year MTC at our Tronox operations in Australia, enjoying a 9 day fortnight roster. This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door with a global organisation.

This is an unique opportunity for someone who is either located in Perth or in the South West of WA who is ready to  challenge themselves, be mobile and keen to travel! Locations that you would cover include:

  • Kwinana Pigment Processing facility, approx. 35 minute drive south of Perth
  • Bunbury Pigment and mining operations, located in the South West
  • Northern Operation, located North of Perth in Muchea and Cataby
  • Eastern Operations, located in regional NSW

Depending on your location, you would stay at your ‘local’ site for approx. 2 weeks, then traveling to rotating operations the other weeks per month.

Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety training programs to ensure a safe and secure work environment for employees. This role involves designing and delivering training sessions, conducting safety assessments, and staying abreast of regulatory changes to ensure compliance with safety standards in Australia. The Senior Safety Trainer will collaborate with various departments to identify training needs and continuously enhance safety awareness across the organization.

Your key responsibilities will be:

Training Program Development:

  • Develop, review, and update safety training programs based on regulatory requirements and organizational needs.
  • Create engaging and interactive training materials, presentations, and resources.

Training Delivery:

  • Conduct safety training sessions for employees at various levels, ensuring effective knowledge transfer.
  • Utilize diverse training methods, such as workshops, simulations, and e-learning, to cater to different learning styles.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards in Australia.
  • Ensure that safety training programs and practices align with current legislation.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with HR, SHEQ, Operations, and other departments to assess training needs and tailor programs accordingly.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of safety training sessions, assessments, and incidents.

To be successful in your application, you will ideally possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. (Desirable)
  • Professional certification in Workplace Health and Safety (e.g., Cert IV in Work Health and Safety).
  • Professional certification in Training and Assessment (e.g., Cert IV in Training and Assessment)
  • Proven experience as a Safety Trainer or in a similar role, preferably in Australia.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging safety training programs.
  • Analytical skills to assess safety risks and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to adapt to changing regulatory environments.
