Department for Health and Wellbeing – Public Health – Health Protection, Water Quality Unit
Salary: $86,950 to $96,223 – PO2 – Full Time / Ongoing appointment
Overview:
Assists in the administration of the South Australian Safe Drinking Water Act 2011 with a particular focus on providing advice to drinking water providers and undertaking audits /inspections of drinking water providers.
Assists the Principal Water Quality Adviser in delivering specialist advice and policy direction on public health matters relating to Water Quality including the provision of drinking water and recycled water.
Assists in providing a single 24-hour point of contact within Government for notification and communication of drinking water incidents and facilitates the development of a co-ordinated response to safeguard public health including, where required, communication of the incident to the public.

Criminal History Screening Requirement
A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)
A DHS ‘Working With Children Check’ (WWCC) is required for this position
Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)
SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
Special Conditions
The position will from time to time provide assistance in delivering a single 24 hour 7 days a week on-call contact within Government for notification of water and wastewater incidents.
Some intrastate (particularly to regional country areas) and interstate work requiring overnight stays may be required. A current South Australian Drivers Licence and a willingness to drive is essential.
