About the role
The Senior Shipping Officer is primarily responsible for Vessel Chartering and Operations Activities for the Expert of Bulk Commodities from Onslow, Esperance and Port Hedland in newcastlemax, capesize and baby-cape vessels
Key Responsibilities

• Support the Shipping Manager in the vessel chartering and shipping operations, including preparation and review of all charter parties, for all iron ore export shipments from ports utilised by MinRes
• Monitor and report on current and potential changes to the regulatory and operating environment for ocean-going bulk carriers
• Contribute to the development and execution of the MinRes long term freight strategy
• Manage vessel operational issues, laytime calculation, coordination of discharge ports and agent nomination for all Iron Ore export shipments
• Coordinate shipping activities as per shipping schedule and port allocation
• Provide shipping updates and forecasts to the Marketing and Port Operations team on regular basis
• Provide shipping related costs information to accounts department for royalty returns and month-end accrual purposes
• Assist in shipping documentation and freight calculations for Iron Ore exports
• Provide leadership in the interface between sales operations, shipping and marketing
• Coordinate and closely communicate with the port, shipping brokers, agents and marketing team to achieve optimal efficiency of bulk loading to meet customer and other stakeholder requirement.

What you'll bring to the team

• Relevant degree qualification is highly regarded
• Minimum 5-year experience in similar role and industry
• Good understanding of international bulk shipping terms and regulations
• Vessel operations knowledge
• High degree of capability with Microsoft software
