About the role:
This exciting lead role requires the development and management of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) advanced analytics data products and solutions at all levels of the business. The role plays a very important part of the Spatial team, with key responsibilities centred around leadership, technical, innovation and advisory services. This role needs to work closely with other technical leaders in the Spatial team and throughout the wider business, developing analytical solutions to real world problems.

Key skills and experience:
There are a few things that we’ll look for in your CV;
  • Degree level qualification in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Substantial experience of geospatial information management, analysis techniques and spatial software (e.g. Esri ArcGIS, FME, Python, GE Smallworld, ERDAS Imagine).
  • Considerable experience translating business user requires into technical requirements, including technology, data, process and people requirements.
  • Extensive experience using a range of data types in spatial analysis, including vector data, raster data, 3D data, smart networks, non-spatial databases and web data services
What the role will involve:
  • Lead collaboration with stakeholders to understand their needs and use these to formulate analytical innovation, uncovering vital questions or technical business requirements.
  • Collect, cleanse, assess, manipulate, analyse, and visualise data sets to provide answers to business problems. Create new user-friendly insights to share with a diverse audience.
  • Apply and provide expert advice on statistical, spatial, and mathematical principles by use of computational models, coding in appropriate programming languages and GUI-based models to perform complex and in-depth spatial data analysis.
  • Develop standards and procedures relating to spatial data analysis to encourage consistency, supportability, and improved efficiency of innovative analytic practices.
  • Lead continuous improvement of Spatial Analytics, data science processes and standards to improve the organisation’s spatial data analytics capability.
  • Facilitate and assist in the resolution of real-world problems, identifying requirements of fit-for-purpose spatial data science models and algorithms. Develop and implement change management practices to provide resolutions and prevent reoccurrence.
