The Role

We are seeking experienced Speech Pathologists to join Lifestart’s Specialised Supports team. This is a permanent opportunity with full and part time (minimum 3 days) positions available.

You will provide person and family-centered intervention and support for children and young people with disabilities or development delay, and their families. You will provide supports flexibly to meet the needs of your clients, including supports to people across Sydney at Lifestart sites, in homes, schools and the community and online supports to people Australia wide. 

Our supportive workplace will provide you with access to senior clinicians and targeted training to develop your skills and experience in range of areas related to your practice. You will work in a collaborative team, participating in the exchange of knowledge and skills among team members to achieve positive outcomes for children, young people and their families. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Work alongside children, young people and their families to set goals, develop strategies and support their implementation
  • Empower our clients and families to develop their skills in areas such as communication, speech, eating and drinking, social skills and supporting inclusion in chosen activities and settings
  • Assessment and intervention in specialist areas such as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), dysphagia and mealtime management.
  • Work with a varied caseload alongside a team of experienced allied health professionals and behaviour support practitioners including occupational therapists, physiotherapists and behaviour clinicians.
  • Provide support to families through a keyworker model of practice and parent coaching 
  • Opportunity to provide support through telehealth, engaging with families online for assessment and intervention. 
  • Opportunity to support families through group programs such as Hanen More Than Words, toilet training, Secret Agent Society and Tech Talkers.
  • Opportunity for supervision of junior clinicians and students
About You - Skills and Experience
  • Qualification in Speech Pathology with current SPA registration
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience 
  • Professional experience, or demonstrated commitment to working with children and young people
  • Experience and/or interest in using person and family centred, strength-based approaches
  • Highly organised, and able to work with technology in a changing environment
  • Understanding of inclusion, cultural sensitivities and the needs of diverse communities
  • Align with Lifestart’s values and believe you would be a great fit
  • Valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC) Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Fully vaccinated for the Covid-19 Virus (3 doses) or accepted medical exemption certificate
  • Current driver’s licence and use of own car
