The Infectious Diseases Physician as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, provides leadership for the CQ Health Antimicrobial Stewardship Program in collaboration with other key clinicians team enabling high quality, contemporary services integrated within the clinical services framework of the CQHHS. Liaison and coordination with other clinical departments, district hospitals, primary care networks and non-governmental organisations is critical as is ongoing service development and teaching to provide for a sustainable service.

The Blood Borne Virus and Sexual Health Service (BBV&SH) within Rockhampton provides assessment, screening, diagnosis, and treatment as well as prevention education to the identified at risk population. The BBV (HIV and Hep C/B) service provides medical and nursing care, treatment, support and education for people living with BBVs and their family/partner. The BBV&SH service facilitates an integrated model of care with other health care providers and organisations.
About the role:
The Infectious Diseases Physician will work within an inter-professional Blood Borne Virus and Sexual Health service, Hospital in the Home (HiTH), Specialist Outpatient service and provide inpatient consultancy of these and other Infectious Diseases at the Rockhampton Hospital and within CQ Health.
Furthermore, provide leadership for the CQ Health Antimicrobial Stewardship Program in collaboration with other key clinicians.
About you:
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Mandatory qualification/s: MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Infectious Diseases with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency. In general, this will require Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in the speciality of Infectious Diseases or support from the College for Staff Grade Infectious Diseases Physician status.
- The appointee will be required to undergo a credentialing process and will be granted appropriate scope of clinical practice. There is a system of review and renewal of credentials and privileges for senior medical staff. This is reviewed on a five (5) yearly basis. Your certifiable skills and competencies determine the scope of clinical practice you will be granted and subsequently your position title and salary status.
- Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies.
Salary information:
Total remuneration value of up to $514,074 p.a. is comprised of:
- A salary between
o $204,206 - $237,196 p.a. (L18 - L24)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
- Professional Development Leave - 3.6 weeks
- Professional Development Allowance - $21,000
- Motor Vehicle Allowance
- Over-time and on-call allowances
- Attraction and Retention Incentive Allowance (Granted Private Practice arrangements)
