Head Medical are delighted to share we are seeking a Consultant in Infectious Diseases to be based in Rockhampton, Queensland - A regional city that offers an ideal lifestyle and is the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef coming up it a beautiful 300 days of sunshine a year.
The health service provides health care to Central Queensland that covers a catchment area of approximately 250,000, a number which is expected to continue to grow
The Infectious Diseases Physician will work within an inter-professional Blood Borne Virus and Sexual Health service, Hospital in the Home (HiTH), Specialist Outpatient service and provide inpatient consultancy of these and other Infectious Diseases at the Rockhampton Hospital and within CQ Health.
Provide direct, high-quality care to clients with Infectious Diseases (including HIV/AIDS, Hep B and C and Tuberculosis) in both acute and non-acute service settings.

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. Specialist Medical Services include Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthesia. There are also a range of clinical services provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland. A new Cancer Care Unit provides care for local patients, with state-of-the-art equipment and services.
The Blood Borne Virus and Sexual Health Service (BBV&SH) within Rockhampton provides assessment, screening, diagnosis, and treatment as well as prevention education to the identified at risk population. The BBV (HIV and Hep C/B) service provides medical and nursing care, treatment, support and education for people living with BBVs and their family/partner. The BBV&SH service facilitates an integrated model of care with other health care providers and organisations
Essential criteria
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Infectious Diseases with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency. In general, this will require Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in the speciality of Infectious Diseases or support from the College for Staff Grade Infectious Diseases Physician status.
