The new Building Commission NSW has been established after the NSW Government recognised the substantial progress made by Fair Trading and the Office of the Building Commissioner in delivering once-in-a-generation reforms of the building and construction industry. About the Intelligence Unit
The Intelligence Unit is a highly motivated and specialist team that operates in a proactive way, providing tactical, operational, and Strategic Intelligence support. We produce information and intelligence products that target regulatory risk and criminal activities. And we develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support our intelligence work.
About the role
As a Strategic Intelligence Officer, you will be responsible for gathering and analysing data from a variety of sources, including internal systems, industry reports, and public records. You will use this information to identify trends, patterns, and potential risks, and communicate your findings to key stakeholders across the organisation.
In addition to your analytical skills, you will also need strong communication and collaboration skills, as you will be working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure that your insights are effectively integrated into business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and analyse intelligence from a wide range of sources, including open-source information, government sources, and industry experts
- Identify and assess potential threats and opportunities facing the organisation
- Prepare briefing materials and presentations for senior management and key stakeholders
- Conduct research and analysis on specific issues or threats as directed by senior management
- Contribute to the development and implementation of intelligence policies and procedures
- Collaborate with external partners and organisations, such as government agencies and other private sector companies, to exchange information and intelligence
Key Challenges
- Sifting through large volumes of information and extracting key insights
- Synthesising complex information and presenting it in a clear and concise manner
- Staying up to date with developments and trends in the industry
- Balancing the need to provide timely and relevant intelligence with the need to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the information
To be successful, you will:
- Have a strong analytical background and the ability to think critically and strategically
- Be highly organised and detail-oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have experience working with intelligence-gathering tools and techniques
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners
- Have the ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. A master's degree and/or relevant professional experience is a plus.

Salary Clerk Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting at $120,859 base plus superannuation
