In this Perth-based role, you’ll work with the Mine Waste Manager and wider Mine Waste team as a Technical Specialist, Senior Tailings Engineer. Provide technical direction and/or provision of input to tailings design studies and related analyses.
Our Mining team helps clients optimise performance, boost profitability, and operate responsibly. We have a comprehensive understanding of the mining industry and current issues including decarbonisation and understand future ready strategies are critical to countering these issues, capitalising on opportunities, and adding value to businesses.
What you’ll do:
Provide technical direction or provision of input to tailings design studies and related analyses.
Deliver direction on complex technical analyses.
Develop and review complex analyses to support design and operational reviews.
Liaise with specialists from other disciplines or offices within WSP.
Provide senior technical input to project teams and ensure that appropriate technical standards are developed and maintained.
Assess and understand credible failure modes and how they apply to specific tailings storage facilities.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring for staff in the regional team and review their project work.
Deliver best practice consulting services to clients in Australia and overseas.
Provide recommendations in tailings and mine waste management to clients.
Build and maintain business networks.
About you:
Bachelor Qualification in Civil/Mining Engineering or similar.
Extensive experience working on tailings/mine waste related projects locally or internationally, ideally in a consulting environment.
Detailed understanding of numerical analysis software.
Ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary project teams.
Hold a current manual drivers’ licence.
