Senior Tax Accountant

We are offering an opportunity for a full time (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) Senior Tax Accountant in an established family practice. Our accounting firm focuses on providing exceptional service that is personalised and highly valued by our clients. The successful applicant to join our team will be someone who is passionate about Tax and who thrives in a challenging and dynamic environment.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Preparation of Tax Returns and Financial Statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, sole traders and SMSF
• Individual Tax Return preparation
• BAS Preparation and lodgements
• Bookkeeping support to clients (all cloud based platforms)
• TPAR, FBT Returns, ATO Portal Enquiries, assistance with ATO audits and reviews and other ad-hoc tasks

Qualifications & experience

• Bachelor of Business degree (accounting) or higher OR equivalent accounting qualification from TAFE or other colleges
• 2+ years experience working as a Tax Accountant 
• Experience with handitax (preferred but not essential)
• Proficient knowledge of Xero, MYOB & QB 
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation law
• Strong excel skills

Once you have successfully attained the position:

At the end of your 6-month probation, if we feel that you are the right person for our firm and this role, then you will be given a contract for a full time permanent position. The salary is negotiable based on your experience and performance. 

Please note: Our firm has an annual shut-down period over Christmas/New Year which lasts between 3-4 weeks. We have this shut-down period every year, and as a condition of employment, all our staff take their annual leave during this time.
