AddressA well-respected services organisation is looking for an experienced full function Senior Tax Accountant. You will be working for an organisation that has played a significant role in directly impacting the lives of thousands of Queenslanders. You will be reporting to a manager who is knowledgeable, supportive and considerate of her staff. The team environment is friendly, helpful and tight-knit. This will be a 6-month temporary role with a strong possibility of extension.
In this position, you will be required to:
- Use your tax skills to assist in the preparation of this Department’s consolidated annual FBT return and assist with GST taxation compliance reviews.
- Assist in providing taxation advice to state clients and corporate business areas.
- Undertake research to adequately respond to tax legislation changes and new public sector financial management and budgetary initiatives.
Although there will be a handover and you will have the support and training you initially require, ultimately you will need to assume complete responsibility for your role and will need a thorough knowledge of FBT and GST.
You will demonstrate knowledge of accounting concepts and strategies, and taxation legislative requirements.
- Illustrate experience in preparing taxation returns (primarily annual FBT return) and GST compliance reviews.
- Demonstrate experience in the use and development of medium/advanced Microsoft Excel skills, transactional data analysis and reconciliations to identify non-compliance to taxation and procedural requirements.
- Has good oral and written communication skills so that you can effectively liaise with a range of stakeholders and manage competing priorities and heavy workloads.
