About the Role
We are seeking for a detail-oriented and proactive Account Taxation professional to join our Finance team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our tax reporting, working closely with various departments to navigate the complexities of property investment taxation.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Preparation and Reporting:
- Prepare and file timely and accurate federal, state, and local tax returns for the company and its investment properties.
- Calculate and manage property taxes, rental income tax, and other relevant tax obligations.
- Analyze and interpret complex tax regulations and legislation to ensure compliance.
- Maintain complete and organized tax records for efficient retrieval and audit readiness.
- Tax Planning and Optimization:
- Identify and implement tax-saving strategies to minimize the company's tax burden.
- Collaborate with the Finance team and external advisors to develop and implement effective tax planning strategies.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations to proactively manage any potential tax implications.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including property managers, accountants, and other team members, to gather necessary information and address tax-related inquiries.
- Communicate complex tax information clearly and concisely to non-tax professionals.
- Represent Freedom Property Investors in meetings and interactions with tax authorities as needed.
- Systems and Technology:
- Utilize tax software and accounting systems to accurately record and track tax data.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for system improvements and automation to optimize tax processes.
- Maintain a high level of data accuracy and integrity through meticulous recordkeeping and documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, required.
- Registered with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) as a Tax Agent
- Certified Practising Accountants (CPA)
- Member of Public Accountants (IPA) or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in property taxation or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations applicable to property investments.
- Proven track record of preparing and filing accurate tax returns for complex entities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex tax scenarios.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong attention to accuracy and compliance.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work seamlessly with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in tax software and accounting systems.
