Your role within the team

Our Group Tax team is growing and seeking a part-time Senior Tax Analyst with a strong compliance background to join the team!

As a Senior Tax Analyst, you will sit within a Group Tax function based in Melbourne. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with the management of ANZ direct and indirect tax compliance, reporting, and business partnering to provide advice for the business.

The position will report to the Group Tax Manager and work closely with the Group Head of Tax and other business operations and support functions.

Key responsibilities include:

Compliance & Advisory

  • Assistance with the H&H Group’s Australian and New Zealand tax compliance obligations including preparation of: Annual income tax returns & reportable tax positions, Monthly Business Activity & Instalment Activity Statements, Annual Fringe Benefits Tax returns, Tax effect accounting calculations for half year and full year, including income tax note, Transfer pricing documentation, local file and country-by-country reporting, Thin capitalization calculations, Controlled foreign company calculations, Tax technical memos/papers to support positions taken.
  • Assist with external tax authority enquiries, reviews & audits in AUS & NZ
  • Assist with delivering relevant tax training support to finance & other function departments.
  • Provide tax advice to the H&H Group as required, covering all types of indirect & direct taxes.

Strategy & Governance

  • Assist to implement & review tax risk management, governance & controls in AUS & NZ.
  • Assist to implement H&H Group operational model, including monitoring intercompany recharges & documentation requirements.
  • Assist to identify & implement appropriate systems, processes & controls to enhance reporting & operational efficiency within the tax function.

Desired Skills &Experience

To make sure we’re setting new starters up for success, we ask that you meet a few criteria relevant to the role to be considered for this opportunity:

  • A minimum of 4 years of post-grad tax experience at a large accounting firm or multinational corporate with sound experience in compliance for direct & indirect taxes (income tax, PAYG, FBT, GST).
  • Sound Australian income tax, FBT & GST compliance experience essential.
  • High proficiency in tax-effect accounting including Accounting Standard IAS 12/AASB112.
  • Experience with advising on large corporate taxation matters, including cross-border & international issues.
