The Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) is Australia’s national education evidence body. Support the development of evidence-based content
AERO is looking for a Senior Teaching and Learning Specialist to translate high-quality education research and policy analysis in schooling into high-impact products for teachers, school leaders and policymakers. The role will involve development and dissemination of evidence-based, practical guidance, professional learning and resources. This includes engaging with a range of stakeholders to develop the materials, so they can be easily accessed, understood and implemented and to encourage their uptake and use.
Essential requirements
- Qualifications in education.
- Experience in a team within an education system, sector or organisation to deliver complex projects, including high-quality advice, professional learning and products for teachers and school leaders, under tight timelines and competing priorities.
- Experience as a teacher in schools or strong knowledge of this context.
- Proven experience working in/and or leading project teams to deliver high-quality products under tight timelines and competing priorities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to translate technical and complex information concisely for diverse audiences, including practical guidance and resources for practitioners.
- Deep knowledge of the Australian education sector, including key stakeholders, policies and frameworks
- Qualifications in public policy, social sciences or another relevant discipline.
- Experience and expertise in Teaching and assessment of the Australian curriculum (English and maths, literacy and numeracy).

Accountabilities:
- Scope, plan and design Teaching and Learning guidance and resource development projects aligned to AERO’s annual research agenda.
- Collaborate with AERO colleagues to inform project activities and deliverables.
- Develop evidence-based guidance and resources that support teachers, school leaders and policymakers to use more evidence-based practices
- Provide high-quality advice and support for dissemination activities that maximise the impact of AERO research products on the Australian education community.
- Collaborate with colleagues from across AERO as well as external stakeholders to ensure research projects and products are high quality and high impact.
- Contribute strategic advice based on experience and expertise to the planning of AERO’s annual research agenda and work plan.
