The Role & The Team
In this role you will be a technical specialist leading a high performing team who are responsible for carrying out maintenance and installation activities on critical air traffic control and aviation rescue and firefighting systems, ensuring the operational safety and integrity of the Australian national airways system.
As a member of this team you would be responsible for:
- Providing high level technical leadership of project and maintenance activities of a specialist team installing and maintaining communications, navigation, and surveillance equipment for the control and guidance of aircraft.
- Maintaining complex electronic equipment including communications, navigation, and surveillance equipment with limited guidance according to prescribed standards, procedures and regulatory obligations.
- Management of team maintenance activities including work scheduling and allocation of day to day activities including fault allocation and maintenance requests.
- Management of team capability including coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
- Assisting the Team Leader with team administrative activities including managing supplier relationships, vehicle fleet management and contract management support.
- Team regulatory compliance ensuring adherence to legislative and CASA regulations.

The Person
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and objectively when considering options for resolving complex problems.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic change and improvement.
- A high degree of technical knowledge, application and experience working on complex communications, navigation, and surveillance systems and/or leading people working on such systems.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise, organise, and perform activities with limited guidance, for cost effective outcomes.
- High level knowledge and understanding of the policies, procedures, and legislation relevant to the position.
- A strong commitment to working in a team environment with a focus on delivering the highest level of customer service.
- An ability to effectively coach, mentor and develop other staff within the workgroup.
- High level communication skills.
- Ability to engender a working environment in which a proactive and collaborative safety culture can flourish.
The following qualifications are essential to be considered for this role:
- Diploma of Electronics and Communications Engineering or equivalent
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence
- Construction industry White Card
- Australian Citizenship
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or the relevant assessment modules from this qualification) - desirable
