Job description

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Textile Screen Printer (known internally as Senior Operator) to join our team. 

Working alongside our current Senior Operator, Press Operator and Junior operators you will play an integral part in ensuring that Garment Decoration activities in our production facility are in line with our customer expectations and DMND’s operational requirements. In the role you will also be responsible for guiding, supervising, training, and developing our Junior staff.

The role would suit an experienced Screen Printer who is data driven, shows initiative and is committed to continuous improvement in their work and processes.

Your typical week will involve:

  • Alongside the Production Operations Manager and Senior Operator, strategically managing the production floor, ensuring that the quality and output rate of finished goods meets both our internal standards & client specified requirements.
  • Operate, and supervise the operation and maintenance of prepress equipment, semi-automatic printing machines, intermediate dryers, conveyor ovens & heat-press equipment.
  • Set-up, Run and Tear-down print jobs, ensuring that quality and productivity are within established parameters.
  • Maintain DMND standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security.
  • Prepare Weekly/Daily Production, Cleaning & Preventive Maintenance schedules.
  • Oversee the preparation of Inks, Screens & Garments ahead of production. 
  • Manage printing consumables stock levels, evaluating product effectiveness, undertaking testing as required.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and service providers.
  • Manage production orders, prepare quality variation and productivity reports.
  • Continuously monitor service quality, receiving and sharing feedback.
  • Identify and execute process and quality improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the print production process.

This role will require you to be flexible in your approach to work, be highly organised to manage multiple projects at the one time, with a strong attention to detail. 

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the industry including practical experience in a full-service print production environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP, Prepress and Ink Management software systems.
  • Knowledge of procedures in quality control for production and an understanding of continual improvement processes.
  • Broad industry knowledge and end-to-end capabilities across Screen and Stencil preparation, Ink mixing and colour matching, Substrate and Ink system compatibility and Machine setup, operation, and maintenance.
  • A thorough understanding of printable textile substrates including Industry leading quality in print finish, hand feel, and colour registration.
  • Knowledge of decoration methods for both natural, synthetic, and blended fibres.
  • The skills required to prepare, test & trouble-shoot print applications using Plastisol, Water-base, Discharge, Complex multi-colour (PMS matched) and Halftone work, simulated (Spot) Process and production and pressing of Vinyl, Cold Peel Plastisol and DTF Transfers.
