About the Position
You will be responsible for undertaking assessments and preparing development applications on a range of developments including those that are complex in nature. You are responsible for client liaison and project management of the application through all stages and dealings with all related consultants and state agencies. You will be responsible for the provision of specialist town planning advice to all stakeholders.
You will have a tertiary level qualification in Urban & Regional Planning or equivalent.

Our Town Planners are laser focussed on delivering industry leading solutions for our clients through their expert knowledge. Our sizeable team of 22 in town planning and urban design hold a breadth of experience delivering solutions for both private and public sector clients throughout Queensland and New South Wales. Our Town Planners consistently strive to deliver high quality outcomes and results for our clients and have an emphasis on technical knowledge, responsive service, and a high level of professionalism.
Your responsibilities in this role will be:
- Undertake the assessment of and preparation of reports on development applications.
- Liaise with client, Council and interested parties in relation to applications.
- Undertake the project management of development applications ensuring all statutory requirements and timeframes are met.
- Prepare documentation and provide professional advice to clients on planning related matters.
- Prepare concise reports and documentation relating to planning appeals and the provision of professional advice to the Court.
- Provide specialist town planning input to support other departments within Saunders Havill Group.
- Provide support and mentoring to less experienced planners.
As the successful candidate, you will possess:
- Advanced knowledge of the Planning Act 2016 and related legislation
- Experience speaking effectively before large groups of people (comms experience)
- You will have a tertiary level qualification in Town Planning or similar tertiary degree.
- Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience and eligibility for membership of the Planning Institute of Australia.
