The Opportunity
We have partnered with a client who is seeking a talented Senior Underground Mine Planning Engineer to join the team at their Kalgoorlie mine site.
Working collaboratively alongside the Underground Operations Managers, D&B Engineers, Geologists, Geotechnical Engineers and Surveyors, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Project feasibility studies
- Medium term to LOM mine design and scheduling
- Ore Reserve estimation
- Financials, including cost estimation and budget preparation
- Mine optimisation, including the identification of business improvement opportunities
- Assisting the planning and production teams
- Mentoring Junior Engineers.
- Maintaining a strong safety culture
- Other duties as required
This position is being offered on an 8:6 roster, on either a residential or FIFO basis.
The Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or similar
- 5+ years' experience in Underground Mining
- Extensive knowledge of mining processes, equipment and technologies, as well as developed leadership, analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Previous experience with contractor management
- Financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and optimise mining operations for profitability
- Ability to conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses for mining projects.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office and Deswick
- Strong safety commitment and a continuous improvement mindset
- Previous mentoring experience (desirable)
- Mining Engineering degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in life of mine planning
- Ability to independently complete Underground Mining project feasibility studies
